What if I don't have a formal CV?
We will only accept applications with a formal CV and so we encourage you to write one or have one done for you. Where a CV is requested, simply enter a brief description of your background experience (with dates of employment), educational achievements, and skills. The CV shouldn’t be more than two pages long. This information is necessary to evaluate candidates. Applications without this information cannot be considered.
Should I send samples of my work (writing, designs, procedures etc.) with my CV?
If you're selected for an interview, we may request work samples. Please do not include samples with your application. However, if you have public copies of your work available for viewing online, please include the Web-site link on your CV.
I wanted to apply for a position that I saw here, but now it's not listed. May I still apply?
We regularly post new positions and remove positions that are no longer open or have been filled. It's ideal when you can apply for a specific position; it makes our process of reviewing applicants easier. However, you may apply without indicating a specific open position.
What is your interview process?
If the position is in the Western Cape, you will be invited to The Cape Herb & Spice Company’s head office in Tokai, Cape Town, for a face-to-face interview. Typically, the hiring manager, someone from Human Resources and possibly by a few teammates, will interview you. You might be asked to do a psychometric or aptitude test before the interview begins.
How should I dress for the interview?
The Cape Herb & Spice Company has a casual work environment. While our factory team wears protective clothing, our offices are filled with people wearing casual clothing. Dress neatly and comfortably. A suit and tie is not necessary and won’t impress anyone.
How long do you take to make a decision?
Once we've finished interviewing all of the selected candidates and completed reference and background checks, we try to make a final decision within a few business days.
Do you offer benefits?
Absolutely. A pension fund is available to all permanent employees. A nurse is present at the factory in Tokai, Cape Town, on certain weekdays. The nurse offers free medical advice and limited medical care. Various tests, including HIV, pregnancy, cholesterol and blood pressure, are provided free of charge. Factory staff members working official overtime after 8pm are offered taxi transportation home.
Will you help me with relocation?
When we interview out-of-town candidates, we usually do not offer relocation help.
Do you hire contractors, temporary employees, or freelancers?
Yes. We work with a limited number of contingent workers throughout The Cape Herb & Spice Company. To find out if we have any of these positions available, email hr@capeherb.com.

A decision will be made on whether your agency fulfils the necessary requirements to deliver on employment equity recruitment. If your agency complies with our requirements, you will be given permission to submit applications, but only for specific advertised vacancies.
